Every year, the Vaughan International Film Festival brings the world to your screen — and this year, we’re raising the bar again. The 2025 Official Selection is stacked with an epic lineup of short films from around the globe, and we’re not exaggerating when we say… you’re going to want front-row seats.

We’re talking Oscar winners. Beloved alumni. Stars from major franchises. Visionaries who are redefining storytelling, one short at a time.

Here’s a short glimpse of some of the films coming to VFF this year — and trust us, this is just the beginning.

TITO (Spain)

Produced by Dani Feixas, the same creative force behind Paris 70, which won Best Film at VFF just last year.

Dusty (Australia)

Written by and starring Travis Jeffery, whose face you might recognize from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Heartbreak High. This one’s packed with emotion, grit, and a rising star you’ll want to keep an eye on.

Clementine (Canada)

Directed by VFF alumni Beth Evans (The Bubble, Going Away Party), this heartfelt piece brings together a stellar cast featuring Allie Dunbar and Rodrigo Stoll. It’s the kind of story that stays with you — and it’s always a treat to welcome our alumni back to the big screen.

Maybe Elephants (Canada)

Directed by Academy Award winner Torill Kove (The Danish Poet, 2007). Yes, you read that right — Oscar-winning. This Canadian animated short is pure storytelling magic.

Bottle George (Japan)

From Daisuke “Dice” Tsutsumi, former Art Director for Toy Story 3 and the brilliant mind behind The Dam Keeper (Oscar nominee, 2015). Visually rich and emotionally moving, this one’s a must-watch for animation lovers.

The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (Croatia)

Directed by Nebojša Slijepčević, whose film has already earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short in 2025.

Sidekicks (Canada)

An all-star indie ensemble! Directed, written, produced, and acted by John Daniel (Wayward, The Hardy Boys, Life with Luca), this short is a passion project with serious talent.

Produced by Kevin Alves (Yellowjackets, Locke & Key, No Good Deed), with cinematography by Jared Marino, director of Benevolent. This one’s got layers — and it’s a wild ride from start to finish.

Whether you’re a longtime festival-goer or just discovering us, this year’s international lineup is something special. From rising stars to award-winning icons, the stories we’re bringing to the screen reflect the vibrant, diverse, and global heartbeat of short film today.

Don't miss your chance to be part of the magic. VFF 2025 is going to be unforgettable.
